Pixel Time workshops help teachers and scout leaders advance digital literacy with moviemaking and 21st Century communication tools. Pixel Time can help you get a jump start on using digital media to engage kids in active learning. All our workshops are offered in a Pixel Time lab, where you'll find new iMacs and high-speed Internet access. We teach using Windows or Mac, whichever platform you are more comfortable using.We emphasize learning by doing with our hands-on format. We can customize the following workshops for groups of four or more participants.

Flip Cameras~Making and Sharing Your Movies
You'll learn how to use your Flip camera and a computer to make, edit and publish short movies. Activities include * Shooting video with your Flip * Getting the video into your computer * Editing movies with the software you already have * Getting inspired: video project examples and ideas 2-hour workshop

Moviemaking with Kids using No-Cost/Low-Cost Tools
Explore examples of kid-made movies that have been employed across the curriculum, learn about the visual language of film, and brainstorm moviemaking ideas for your classroom. In this workshop, you'll try out low-cost gadgets and gear used to storyboard, edit and publish short movies. 6-hour workshop

Out of the Cloud: Free Tools for Photo, Movie, and Sound Editing
One outcome of cloud computing has been the emergence of free tools for digital editing delivered via a web browser. In this workshop, you’ll explore the world of browser-based tools for editing photos, movies, and sound. For each tool, we’ll look at example projects, brainstorm ideas for projects relevant to your interests, and then make our our projects. 2-hour workshop

Way More than Facebook: Social Networking for Teachers
Learn about the online worlds of social networks. In this workshop, you’ll explore tools for blogging, collaborative writing, image sharing/editing, and more. Discover how the use of ratings and tags can make the Internet a more valuable teaching resource. You’ll set up your own free accounts at a variety of social media sites and learn tips to help your online time be more rewarding and productive. 2-hour workshop
